Whitewashing in American film/ media research findings.

I did my final project on whitewashing in American media and film. I used many different research sources from scholarly articles to regular news articles.       One of my first findings in my research was the deep effects that whitewashing has on Asian Americans. I learned that they are disproportionally affected. In movies Asian American characters overwhelmingly get played by white actors and their stories are shifted to benefit or paint white actors as the hero's. I also learned about the movie Mortal combat that was made in 1995 that had racist portrayals of Asians and how the one that was made in 2021 did an excellent job of erasing those racist portrayals and reshaping the character development in Mortal Combat. That came directly from WHITEWSSHING THE MOVIES peer reviewed article. I also learned about how Hollywood has historically erased Asian characters they paint white culture as the most important and or as the default culture here in America comple...

The conjuring: Last Rites(blog project 2)

Image
The Conjuring: Last Rites came out September 2025. It is one of the most influential modern horror franchises in the United Sates. The Conjuring has helped bring back supernatural horror as of the 2010s. It is also based on real life paranormal cases that took place. They also have some of the strongest character consistency. The movies, Annabelle, The Nun, and the curse of La Llorona are all movies that are extensions to the main stories that have all done very well among the franchise. The original cases that happened in real life were all over the news when they took place Ed and Loraine's work shook the town of Monroe, Connecticut.      I am going to take a deep dive into the series of the conjuring and the legacy these films have now left behind. The series ha...

Blog#2 The information I consume.

1.Assosiated Press 2.ABC world news 3.PBS NewsHour      These are my go-to because I don't notice bias within them, I can get information without it "siding" with one political view or agenda. I consider them very reliable because I can get information not only from where I live or within my bubble but around the world. They do not push an opinion on me. I am very concerned with what media people watch and consume considering it can make them believe something that isn't true in the slightest. I notice it even within my family especially when I see people getting all of their information off bias websites that just feed you what you want to hear. I learned how to fact check websites in my WR 121 class so now I am able to see what is and is not reliable or factual. I also discuss with the people around me and in my family on what they have learned and where they have gotten their information so that I can compare and contrast.

I unfortunately stopped playing sports in high school because of working a part-time job. I cannot wait to start my profession I will have the chance to help people and see people be helped in the OR. I cannot wait to learn about the manipulation tactics the media uses on us because I know they are very prevalent. I also cannot wait to talk about current events. I am very passionate about my family and my love for them. They are very important to me I have a very small family, and we are very close. I LOVE THEM!
